Better Late than Never: Why I’m Starting an Art Blog in 2026

Starting a blog is something I’ve been interested in for over 5 years now, but I could never commit. I was too caught up in my head, overthinking everything from the topic, the name, the design, whatever else you can think of, that I couldn’t settle. I finally got so tired of worrying about everything, that I just stopped. The blog idea shifted to the back of my mind and I started focusing on other things.

Fast forward to the end of 2025 and I wasn’t thrilled with what my life was looking like. Dealing with depression and a lack of motivation, I’d let myself get addicted to social media and the internet, consuming endless amounts of content.

But I became disillusioned with it all. There were ads everywhere and someone was always trying to sell me something or the content was just super repetitive.

I wanted something more out of my free time, something more tangible.

So, I shifted my consumption from social media to library books and I started to feel better as 2025 came to an end. But there was still something missing.

In mid-January, I dug out an unused sketchbook and got back to drawing after a 2.5 year hiatus from art. Creating something, even just little doodles or sketches everyday, felt like a solid replacement for scrolling and a good addition to my recent reading habit. It was a calming activity and it was something real.

And then the blog idea crept in again. I’ve previously shared my art on Instagram, but I don’t want to be sucked back into it. I don’t like the algorithm, the endless scrolling, the comparison traps. But I still want to share my journey and get my art out there.

Now I’ve finally settled. This blog will be a little digital journal of my artistic journey and creative pursuits. It won’t be perfect, and it doesn’t need to be. It’s focused on art now, but I’m sure it will evolve over time as I get more creative ideas. All that matters it that I actually follow through and get started.

Let the journey begin.
